Lindsey German has been a socialist and a campaigner for over fifty years. She has written extensively on women, the family, and feminism. Her books Sex, Class and Socialism, Material Girls, and How a Century of War Changed the Lives of Women, approach the question of women’s liberation from a range of theoretical and historical angles.
She helped co found the Stop the War Coalition in 2001, and has been the convenor of that organisation since then, organising the biggest demonstration in British history against the war in Iraq in 2003, and helping to organise the huge Palestine demonstration against the genocide in Gaza. In addition to this, her campaigning work includes abortion rights, support for strikes over equal pay, opposing restrictive legislation, and combatting racism and Islamophobia.
